Most expatriates in the UAE have no idea about local culture

According to the results of a new social survey recently conducted in the United Arab Emirates, seven out of ten expatriates do not understand the local Emirate customs and traditions. In total, 2 thousand foreign citizens took part in the survey.

In particular, 72% of expatriates participating in the survey admitted that they know very little about the UAE, the country where they currently live and work. Another 60% of expats noted that they knew only the basics of the UAE culture, 28% claimed that they had good knowledge and understanding of traditions, and 11% honestly admitted that they had never even bothered to learn anything about the country and its inhabitants.

Half of the respondents who took part in the survey said that they occasionally try to learn about the Emirate culture, 16% of respondents said that "they are unlikely to ever do this," and 70% of respondents believe that resources and sources will learn about the culture of the emirates there is plenty.

“Today, people from more than 200 nationalities live in the United Arab Emirates. Our country is known worldwide for its low crime rate, the modern look of cities and the peaceful coexistence of people from different countries,” said Lt. Col. Avadh Saleh Al Kindi, editor-in-chief 999. "- However, the survey conducted by us showed the depressing fact that many expats know very little about the traditions, customs, heritage and culture of the UAE.

We very much hope that the results of the survey will help foreigners make more efforts to learn more about the country that is home at this stage of their lives. "
