Since September, the UAE will ban the sale of used tires

Based on the new law, in September 2012, the UAE authorities will prohibit the sale of used car tires in the country. The new legislative act will be adopted in accordance with the requirements and recommendations of the Office for Standardization and Technical Characteristics of the UAE to improve the level of safety on the country's roads.

According to authorities, the allotted time will be enough for retailers to get rid of their inventory and used tires. “Today, dealers are provided with three options for action,” said Mohammed Saleh Al Badri, and acting director of the department. “They can either sell the available tires, or get rid of them with re-export, or destroy them. From September 1, 2012 for all tire dealers and importers, common specifications will come into force which they will be required to adhere to. " Al Badri also said that, in accordance with the new law, the maximum period of operation of automobile tires in the UAE will be no more than five years, regardless of whether they have been used all this time, or if they were part of the period in the warehouse. This will apply to all types of tires for cars and motorcycles, except for aircraft tires.

The only exception will be made for vehicles used outside cities. These include: heavy trucks, agricultural vehicles, beach cars, golf carts, construction and other vehicles that are used outside key roads and freeways.
