Classics of modern American ballet will arrive in Abu Dhabi for the first time from August 8 to 16: the world-famous Pilobolus Theater will show its amazing and stunning performance of Shadowland ("World of Shadows"). The performance of Shadowland is a universal family spectacle combining drama and comedy and filled with contrasts of love and hate, good and evil, fear and expectation against the background of the play of light and shadow. It contains elements of dance, circus and shows.
The plot is in the surreal associations of a young girl. The plot was invented by children's writer Stephen Banks, who is also the creator of the famous SpongeBob. The music for the performance was written by David Poet, his singles in the genre amplitude from rock to soul pass a harmonious outline through the whole production. A complete sense of surrealism is created by moving screens on many planes simultaneously. On the other side of the screens amazing pictures are recreated.
In the World of Shadows, the dancers very poeticly show the cycle of life and with brilliant acrobatic figures depict that a person, the king of the evolutionary process, can easily turn into someone or anything - from a small animal to a stellar stream in outer space. The American Pilobolus Contemporary Dance and Shadow Theater Troupe was founded in California in 1971. During the work, the artists presented more than 100 choreographic performances, toured in 64 countries and performed in front of 120 million spectators. Actors conquer the audience with the magic technique of merging the arts of dance and shadow shows, creating vivid, unique and catchy images. Pilobolus is marked by a large number of different nominations and awards.
