IN THE CURRENT SEASON, MIDDLE EASTERN DESIGNERS RETURN TO ORIGINS - FURNITURE AND DECOR ELEMENTS are dominated by GEOMETRIC FORMS, ORNAMENTS, AND CALLIGRAPHIC ELEMENTS.

Text: Natalia Remmer

Furniture of strict forms looks stylish and has enhanced functionality - thanks to the calm colors, it easily fits into the interior, and light forms leave a lot of “air” and space. Calligraphy elements create a special aesthetic and refer to the centuries-old culture and heritage of the Arab world.

Arabic calligraphy still retains two main functions - artistic and decorative and sacred. The use of calligraphy in interiors reached its peak in the times of the Ottoman Empire; the art of ornament itself has existed for many thousands of years. The main trend among Arab designers is a combination of traditional patterns and new forms.
