Beginning drivers in the UAE will establish "surveillance"

In the United Arab Emirates, it is proposed to introduce a system for tracking the driving of young drivers.

Young motorists in the UAE may soon be required to install “black boxes” in cars that will monitor their driving.

The Federal Council for Traffic Regulation is considering the possibility of installing such "black boxes" in the cars of all drivers aged 18 to 21 years.

On-board recorders will track the driver’s driving style, recording speed, turn signals and braking performance.

The proposal has already been supported by leading UAE experts on road safety. According to them, such registrars have proven effective in some countries.

Black Boxes can also help save money on car insurance. Telemetry equipment will inform insurance companies how high the risk of a driver getting into an accident. If the risk is relatively low, motorists can count on a discount.

A recent RoadSafetyUAE study found that young drivers between the ages of 18 and 24 are twice as likely to die on UAE roads as adult motorists.
