The worst government agencies in the UAE

The United Arab Emirates is preparing to name the worst and best government departments.

On July 1, 2019, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE and ruler of Dubai, launched an initiative to evaluate the quality of service in 600 branches of government departments. The five worst and best branches will be announced on September 14th.

"My message to all officials: we do not count on anything less than a leading position in the service sector worldwide," said Sheikh Mohammed.

Two months ago, the ruler of Dubai criticized the unsatisfactory level of work of the Emirates Post office in the emirate and promised to dismiss employees who cannot cope with their duties. The reason for criticism was the photo of long lines in the mail.

"This is not our level ... For someone who continues to provide services of such a level, there is no place in my team," Sheikh Mohammed added.

The ruler of Dubai often conducts unexpected inspections of government agencies. Last year, he visited Dubai International Airport in such a way and called on the leadership to "raise the bar" in terms of passenger service and simplification of procedures for people departing and arriving in the UAE.
