MFA of the United Arab Emirates announces diversion off the coast of the country

The Foreign Ministry of the United Arab Emirates reported sabotage acts against merchant ships in the coastal waters of the emirate of Fujairah.

On May 12, 2019, the state news agency WAM, citing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the UAE, reported that four merchant ships near the country's territorial waters were subjected to sabotage attacks.

As a result of the incident, no one was hurt and there was no leakage or spill of any dangerous or harmful substances.

The statement does not say which states the affected vessels and details of the incident belong to, but it is known that we are talking about foreign ships located near the east coast, near the emirate of Fujairah.

The ministry’s statement said that the authorities took all necessary measures and are investigating the circumstances of the incident. Work in the port of Fujairah is carried out as usual.

The ministry emphasized that sabotage and life-threatening crews of commercial vessels are dangerous offenses.

Recall that yesterday, the UAE authorities denied rumors of explosions that allegedly occurred directly in the port of Fujairah.
