The world's largest Ferris wheel "Eye of Dubai" will work in 2020.
Dubai, UAE. The world's largest Ferris wheel, the Dubai Eye (Ain Dubai) on the man-made island of Bluewaters Island in Dubai will work in 2020.
According to the project developer, Meraas, the attraction 250 meters high, which is 80 meters higher than the highest roller in the world today, the High Roller in Las Vegas, will be opened in anticipation of the world exhibition EXPO-2020.
The wheel is assembled from 192 cables with a total length of 2,400 km, which is equal to the distance between Dubai and Cairo. The weight of the metal structure is equal to the mass of 16 Airbus A380 aircraft. For the construction of the wheel, 9,000 tons of steel were used, which is a quarter more than the construction of the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
48 passenger cabins are fixed on the attraction, thus, its total capacity is 1900 people. The wheel will be the main attraction of the new quarter-island of Bluewaters Island.
