Sunset Beach has discovered 20 dead rays.
Dubai, UAE. About 20 dead stingrays of various sizes were found on Sunset Beach, the most popular beach in Dubai. They were found by beach visitors on the morning of Monday, December 18, when they went for a walk. Some of the stingrays still showed signs of life.
According to marine experts, most likely stingrays were thrown ashore by fishermen who went to sea in search of more valuable fish. Traces of nets remained on the carcasses of slopes, which suggests that they were caught in the sea and then washed ashore.
The Azraq organization claims that such phenomena are not uncommon, and they happen regularly in recent years. It is worth recalling that earlier the UAE Ministry of Climate Change and the Environment launched a campaign to combat poaching on water and overfishing.
In the municipality of Dubai, it was also noted that every fisherman who would be caught illegally dumping fish would be severely punished.
