Dubai enters UNESCO Creative Cities Network

Dubai was included in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, an international project with 180 cities from 72 countries.

On the eve of Dubai, became the first city in the Middle East to be included in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN).

Several major development projects have helped Dubai become one of the creative cities in the UNESCO ranking.

The design of the following objects was proclaimed landmark for the city: the Dubai metro and tram, the water canal and the Jumeirah Cornish embankment.

There are also many projects in Dubai that are more than just functional structures and structures, namely: Tolerance Bridge across the Dubai Canal, as well as the Shindaga Bridge under construction - a project based on the idea of ​​42-meter arches forming an infinity sign.

"Design is the process of finding creative solutions to improve the quality of life, the structure of problem solving. Design helps to improve the quality of life, contributes to stability and makes people happier. The inclusion in the UNESCO list reflects the deep interest of the international organization in the cultural heritage of the city," said Daud Al Hajiri , head of the municipality of Dubai.

"This also reflects the country's desire to position itself on the world map," the official added.

UCCN was created to develop cooperation with other cities, where creativity is a strategic factor in sustainable development.

Since its inception in 2004, the network has expanded to 180 cities from 72 countries, covering such creative spheres as art and craft, design, cinema, literature and media art.

These cities have one thing in common: creativity is the basis of their urban development plans at the local level.

It is also worth noting that in September a new university will open in the Dubai Design District, which once again underlines the status of the city as an innovative and creative center.

The Institute of Design and Innovation of Dubai will conduct training in the direction of "Design" for a period of four years with the assignment of a bachelor's degree at the end.
