One of the largest mobile operators in the world, Etisalat launches 5G networks in the UAE.
Etisalat announced the launch of the first 5G commercial network in the UAE, thus becoming the first operator in the Middle East and North Africa to operate in this standard.
Etisalat is the first operator to have a 5G commercial network and provide its subscribers with 1 Gb Internet access services. This standard will accelerate the digital transformation of enterprises, will allow the development of technologies such as the Internet of things, smart cities and will serve as an impetus for the fourth industrial revolution.
The foundation for the launch was laid back in December last year, when Etisalat launched the 5G test standard in some areas of the country, a trial run demonstrated the high speed of 5G technology. Etisalat also launched the avant-garde 5G drone with a rotational VR camera and 4K streaming.
At the first stage of launch, 5G wireless services will cover certain regions of the UAE, coverage will gradually expand as consumer demand grows. A fully commercial network will be available from September this year.
