Spanish operator takes over Dubai resort with polo fields

Desert Palm Dubai will be managed by Spanish company Meliá.

Spanish operator Meliá Hotels International is about to take over the management of the Desert Palm Dubai resort in Dubai.

The deal concerns a 160-acre resort with 39 rooms, suites and villas, four polo fields, an outdoor pool, a 24-hour restaurant, Epicure restaurants, Rate and several bars.

“Managing this exclusive Dubai resort is a matter of pride. It also provides a chance to demonstrate our superior experience in managing luxury city resorts,” said Gabriel Escarrer, CEO of Meliá Hotels International.

Meliá also operates three hotels in Zanzibar, Tanzania and Argentina. Another ME-branded project will open in Dubai at the Opus building later this year.
