Lost in the UAE Mountains tourists saved thanks to WhatsApp

A WhatsApp post helped save an Asian couple lost in the mountains of the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah.

The police of the emirate of Ras al-Khaimah, UAE, was able to determine the location, find and save an Asian couple lost in the mountains.

The central operating room of the police sent a rescue team to the scene in record time. Major Tariq Muhammad Al Sharhan, the head of the department, said that this was made possible thanks to a message in the WhatsApp messenger.

"It was not an easy task, but the rescue team managed to find the missing couple with air support after a three-hour search in the area."

The difficulty in the search was that the operation took place in the dark, and the connection with the lost people was lost.

Major Sharhan said that paramedics provided the people they needed with the help they needed.

Dr. Muhammad Saeed Al Khumaidi, Director General of the Central Operations Division of the Emirate’s Police, called on all tourists to take all precautions for their safety during mountain hikes.

“Climbers need to wear special equipment and protective clothing, as well as always come out with a qualified trainer who can professionally respond to emergencies,” he added.

Anyone who wants to climb should first learn the basics of climbing indoors before heading out into the mountains. It is also recommended that you carry various communications equipment, such as a mobile or satellite phone. A whistle can also be useful for attracting attention.
