On the eve of the UAE, the Prime Minister of the country, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, established the Cultural Development Fund.
The Fund for Cultural Development was created in the UAE, the purpose of which is to intensify activities in the field of culture, strengthen cultural heritage and encourage initiatives aimed at developing creative professions in the country. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Ibn Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE and ruler of Dubai, established the foundation by visiting the Louvre Abu Dhabi on Monday.
The fund, managed by the Ministry of Development of Culture and Education, is designed to involve all sectors of the UAE society in the implementation of cultural development plans and to encourage the role of private companies in the development of culture and knowledge.
Sheikh Mohammed instructed the ministry to develop the so-called "Index of Creative Industries", which reflects the economic return from cultural events and emphasize the role of the cultural sector in the economic development of the country.
"Culture personifies the character of generations and reflects the depth of our history. This is our message that we want to convey to the world through creativity. UAE culture promotes love and tolerance and calls for openness to other cultures. The spirit and identity of our culture is inspired by Arab and Islamic civilizations," said Sheikh Mohammed.
“The Arabic language is the core of our culture. The preservation of our language is a key prerequisite for the development of knowledge to enhance the identity and development of our cultural heritage,” Sheikh added.
“The UAE’s desire to become one of the most advanced countries in the world cannot be realized without a contribution to the cultural heritage. The future of our cultural development should be based on creativity and innovation,” His Highness said. "Economics, culture and politics are interacting components necessary for the development of a nation and building a strong state - that is why the future of our country depends on what we invest in culture today."
