Abu Dhabi arrests woman for publishing obscene videos

The Abu Dhabi Cybercrime Court issued an arrest warrant for a woman who posted obscene videos on the Internet.

A woman of Arab descent was arrested in Abu Dhabi after posting several indecent videos on the Internet.

According to media reports, the cybercrime court in Abu Dhabi ordered the woman to be arrested after an investigation that revealed that she created social media accounts - Snap Chat, Instagram, and Twitter - to promote immoral videos.

The Office of the UAE Prosecutor General said the suspect had indeed violated the law.

The woman created social media accounts under the name Damani, "with the help of which she broadcast video clips that threatened public morality and contributed to debauchery."

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Abu Dhabi Police Cybercrime Unit seized a woman's computer and other electronic devices at the request of the prosecutor's office.

Currently, the woman is in custody pending the transfer of her case to the criminal court.

Earlier this year, the United Arab Emirates created a federal prosecutor's office specializing in information technology crimes.
