Dubai's radars will hit in the back

The Dubai Traffic Department will soon program city radars so that they can “hit” not only in the face, but also in the back of the trespassers.

Thus, it is planned to punish those drivers who slow down just to drive past the radar. Road users will not be able to determine by eye which direction the radar is working at each moment in time, so they will have no choice but to comply with the speed limit or receive a fine.

The decision to expand the scope of radar was made after an experiment with two radars on the Jumeirah coastal highway collected 600 fines in just 3 days. At the same time, in front of the “face” of these radars, only 20 motorists violated the speed limit. Speed violation is the main cause of traffic accidents in Dubai. Since December last year, the city police have been campaigning against fast-driving enthusiasts: on the main highways of the city, radars will appear on every second kilometer.
