UAE calls for settlement of “Qatari crisis”

The Foreign Ministry of the United Arab Emirates is in favor of resolving regional disputes with Qatar.

UAE Foreign Minister Dr. Anwar Gargash made a statement in London regarding the "Qatari crisis." According to him, there are signs that pressure on Doha is "working."

Recall that Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and Egypt imposed sanctions and severed diplomatic relations with Qatar on June 5 in connection with allegations of support for extremism and terrorism. Doha denies the allegations.

The UAE is seeking a regional solution to the crisis by consulting with international partners on ways to resolve disputes between Arab countries and Doha.

In today's speech in London, Anwar Gargash said: “We need a regional solution and international monitoring. We must be sure that Qatar, a state with reserves of $ 300 billion, is no longer the official or unofficial sponsor of jihadist and terrorist acts. ”

The UAE welcomed the agreement between the United States and Qatar on countering the financing of terrorism. However, Arab countries have expressed skepticism as to whether Qatar will adhere to its obligations.

The agreement between Doha and Washington was signed during a four-day mission by US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, which was supposed to put an end to the split between Qatar and its neighbors. However, no statements were made regarding progress in resolving the conflict.

Four Arab countries stated that the sanctions imposed would remain in force until Qatar complied with their requirements.
